Recommended Video Settings

In this article, we've provided you with video setting recommendations for your video files: to ensure that your uploads retain source quality and can be streamed properly.

File Size

Video files above 20GB may have issues with uploading, so we suggest compressing any files that are above that size before trying to upload them to Streamable. Handbrake, Free MP4 Converter, and MP4-Video Converter are a few third-party apps capable of handling your compression needs. Lowering the resolution, frame rate, or bitrate within any of those apps should reduce file size.

File Format & Level

We support a variety of file formats (mp4, mov, avi, etc.); however, we recommend MPEG-4 (H.264) at a level of High Profile 5.2 or lower.

Here’s a detailed table of our recommended settings, based on the type of account you have with us:

Tailoring your video files to meet the above standards will result in fast uploads and high quality streaming. However, in order to maximize compatibility, mobile device viewers will continue to receive a lower-resolution video.
